英语应用能力通常为英语口语和听力的考查，部分院校也会有笔试。
英语听力和口语测试是研究生复试中的重要组成部分。听说能力涉及专业问题，英语的 复试基本围绕听力和口语展开。良好的听说能力是复试成功的保证。复试中对英语的听说能 力考查比较多，有时候也会涉及一些专业性问题。导师们大都比较在意自己学生的英语水平。
听力部分：大多数学校都以现有的成形考试为参考。考生在准备听力复试的过程中，对 于现有的成熟英语测试听力部分一定要重视，可将四六级听力，雅思听力作为复习重点。在 复习时可以有针对地做一些四六级或雅思听力的试题。总之，提早动手，早日预热，找到做 题的节奏和感觉。
口语部分：口语测试准备好话题。对口语的考查，各个学校各不相同。有的学校制定了 非常详细的标准和流程，甚至规定了每个老师发问的方式和时间;有的是由面试老师自由发 挥。考生对下面几个问题一定要认真准备：一是自我介绍;二是做好用英语讲解自己专业的 准备。在考研复试的面试环节中，“你为什么要考研”“你为什么选择XX学校”“你为什么选择XX 专业”通常是考官们非常感兴趣的话题。

面试流程：
1. 第一句话
见到考官的第一句话，很关键，不用说的很复杂。可以是一个简单句，但一定要铿锵有 力。展示出自信和实力。千万不要来一句“Sorry, my English is poor”。
常见的开头有：
I am glad to be here for this interview. First let me introduce myself. I’m …(姓名)，my number is...(编号).
因为部分高校，复试线较低，能够进入到复试的人数会很多，所以参加面试的同学，可 能会有一个考生编号，说一下自己的编号会显得非常正式。

2. 自我介绍
作自我介绍 成长经历(making a self-introduction developing history)，有很多学校
要求做一个自我介绍，但是你要注意的是，这个问题并不是在让你记流水账，不要从小学开 始讲起，也不要赘述你的成长过程，而是考官要在你的介绍中，找到有关你性格、资历、志 向和生活动力等的线索。
另外在介绍性格和爱好的时候，可以适当地结合一下家庭介绍，可以说说父母给了你哪 些良好的影响，千万不要流水账似的介绍家庭成员。
自我介绍参考模板

3.没听懂问题怎么办?
如果考官问其他的问题，但是没有听明白，一定要保持微笑，然后用任意一句回答：
“Could you speak slowly? ”
“I am sorry! I beg your pardon? ’’
“I don’t understand your question, could you repeat it again?
每一年的面试中，很多问题都是相同的，因为这些问题看起来很平常，但实际上是有很 多陷阱的，比如下面这15个问题。

不完全等同于自我介绍，导师不是想知道你喜欢吃辣还是爱看电影，选一部分。(character, qualifications, ambitions, and motivations)

不要将回答锁定在学习上，可以是找到人生的兴趣所在，可以是找到与你脾气相投，谈 话投契的朋友，也可以说很幸运的选择了自己最喜欢的专业。
